Recently, Blizzard upgraded its fleet of World of Warcraft servers and has decided that instead of mothballing the older servers they will auction them off and donate the proceeds to a worthy charity. eBay will handle the auctions. Anyone interested in participating can make an offer for the server shards which were used by hundreds of thousands of players over years.

Each auctioned server blade is a distinct unit. It will be branded with the World of Warcraft logo. A plaque will be added that lists the dates of use for the server as well as the signatures of the developers. The auction will begin on October 17th and proceed until November 14th, when Blizzard auctions the dozens of HP blades for servers in the p-Class class off in groups, and the winnings will be given to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, which helps combat pediatric cancer and other diseases that affect young kids.

You might be looking to own a piece of MMO history or if you are looking for a great Christmas gift for a WoW-loving friend look up the auction dates on eBay.
